Animal Portrait Painting
Saturday, December 7th 10:00am to 1:00pm
Class Description
Join our Christmas Workshop to create a personalized gift this year for our pet friends! We're again offering a painting workshop in collaboration with local artist Molly Troxel to create a portrait of your favorite pet, cats and dogs, turtles, rabbits, you name it! You will be able to create a 16x20 acrylic painting of your furry (or not-so-furry!) companion, starting from a sketch that we will create for you! (from a photo you supply) Molly will give a brief overview of the basics of working with acrylic paints before instructing the portrait painting. Your pre-gessoed canvas, prepped with an outline of your animal friend, will be all ready to start painting. You will be guided along from the first brushstroke to the completion of your lovely portrait; from background.. to basic structure.. to finishing touches! $50 per person Includes: - Pre-gessoed 16" x 20" canvas, primed and ready to paint! What you'll need: In order for us to have the canvas completely ready for you, you'll need to send us a photo of your pet you'd like to replicate. Ideally, the photo of choice is: - In focus. A clear close-up shot is best. - Evenly lit (the less drastic shadows, the better) - Your pet is in full view (at least from shoulders up) Materials list: - Acrylic Paints: -- primary colors: blue, yellow, red -- black & white - Flat brush - Round brush Material kits are available for purchase at Blick down the road. Just mention the Animal Portrait Painting class at Art Beat to any associate and they will be able to assist you! Saturday, December 7th 10:00am - 1:00pm *Artist’s bio: Hi, I am Molly Troxell-Dennehy, a fine artist who holds a B.A.(Humanities).and a B.S. in Art Education from Crewe Alsager College in England near Liverpool. I am primarily an illustrator and painter. I have been a public school art teacher for most of my career. Training in traditional drawing and drafting is what I feel is of fundamental importance when creating great art. I have done many portraits over the years, which I consider a specialty area. I also enjoy cartooning and bookmaking, and I would consider my style of teaching very therapeutic since I enjoy offering individualized advice.
